dsign.so vs Canva for Instagram posts

Short answer

Canva is a general design tool: you pick a template and make it yours. dsign.so does one thing: you type what a post is about, and every template fills with your words in your brand's colours, fonts and logo, so you choose a finished post. Choose Canva if you also need presentations, print, video editing, a team or scheduling. Choose dsign.so if you mainly need on-brand Instagram posts and carousels quickly, especially from a phone. Many people use both.

dsign.so is our product. Canva's details are as its site and price trackers listed them in November 2026; check Canva's pricing for today's.

The difference in one post

In Canva you search the templates, open one, replace its words with yours, change its colours and fonts to your brand (or apply your Brand Kit), swap in your logo, then resize it for a story. In dsign.so you type “spring menu, two new drinks, 20% off this week”; every template shows that post, in your brand, already. You pick one, change anything you like, and switch the size — the layout follows.

Choose Canva if…

  • you make presentations, flyers, print or documents as well as posts;
  • a team designs together and needs shared folders and approvals;
  • you want to schedule and publish from the same app;
  • you enjoy designing and want the biggest library to start from.

Choose dsign.so if…

  • you mainly post on Instagram and other social networks;
  • every post must look like your brand, and you're tired of fixing colours and fonts each time;
  • you want a carousel written and laid out in one go;
  • you make posts on your phone, between other work;
  • you aren't a designer and would rather choose than build.

Using both

They don't exclude each other. A common split: Canva for the occasional flyer or deck, dsign.so for the weekly posts. Your brand kit is the same in both — logo files, hex codes and Google Fonts move across freely.

Questions

Is dsign.so a Canva alternative?
For social posts, yes: it makes Instagram posts, carousels and stories in your brand from what you type. It doesn't replace Canva for presentations, print, documents or team design.
Is dsign.so cheaper than Canva?
dsign.so Pro is $9 a month or $84 a year; Canva Pro was listed at about $144–180 a year for one person in autumn 2026. Both have free plans.
Can I use my Canva brand kit in dsign.so?
Yes — bring the same logo files, colour hex codes and fonts. dsign.so can also read them from your website or a brand guideline PDF (Pro).
Does dsign.so make designs with AI?
No. The designs come from a library of templates, each reviewed by a designer. A writing assistant drafts the text from what you type, and you can change every word.
